Infant massage

baby massage feet

I teach parents, as well as health practitioners, infant massage according to the Ayurvedic tradition.

Touch is the first sense—the sense of gentle strokes. It is as vital for the development of a child as food. The first six months are the most important for the child to receive massages on a daily basis. It is even more important if the child is handicapped. However, it is never too late to massage your child—at any age—for them to benefit.

Massaging your baby offers various physical and emotional benefits.

Massage helps blood circulation and tones muscles. It activates the metabolism and reinforces the immune system.

Your child’s sleep will improve. Massage provides restorative sleep.

The skin becomes lubricated and firmer, nourished by the massage oil.

Digestion improves. Applying oil to the belly button stimulates the digestive system, and colic disappears.

Bones and muscles benefit from regular massage, gaining elasticity and strength.

Eyes and sensory organs, which are not fully developed at birth, are nourished and protected by the application of sesame oil and ghee (clarified butter).

Massage gives a sense of security and self-confidence. It’s a bonding experience where the child receives love and affection from their loved one, bringing emotional stability.
