Juniper or Juniperus has been used in various cultures and traditions around the world for its protective properties.

In the Celtic tradition: Juniper was believed to offer protection against evil spirits, witches, and negative energies. It was often used in rituals and ceremonies to ward off malevolent forces.

Some common ways juniper is used for protection include:

Due to its magical properties, I like to use juniper as an aura spray. I prepare a hydrosol with its berries and leaves at certain times of the moon and use it for protection in certain public spaces.

The berries are laxative and diuretic therefore are a great at stimulating the bladder, kidneys and digestive secretions.

The Juniper antimicrobial and anti-inflamatory properties make it beneficial to support the urinary health especially during urinary tract infection.

Juniper is also great at supporting the lungs during cold damp respiratory infection.

The juniper antioxidant properties Juniper extracts contain antioxidants that help protect against oxidative stress and cell damage.

Skins issues like acne, eczema, and wounds can be helped with juniper topically and internally.

As a decoction the berries and the leaves can treat rheumatic joint when applied topically.

Juniper should not be used during a kidney infection or chronic kidney weakness as the oils excreted in the urine can cause irritations.
